IB advocates the whole-person development, international vision and leadership thinking, so it is necessary to fill our resume with high-value scientific research, competitions and practical activities. Recently, Andrew Zhang and Justin Jiang, both of the I-EP MYP G9 students, were distinguished themselves from all competitors and won the Global Silver Award (Top 15% globally) and Global Bronze Award (Top 25% globally) respectively at the British Physics Olympiad (BPhO) with their solid physics skills.
在倡导全人发展、国际视野、领导思维的IB教育面前，有必要通过一些高含金量的科研、竞赛、实践活动等，为自己的学术履历再添光彩。最近，华外同文外国语学校创新融合部（I-EP）MYP九年级的张延一同学和江宸宇同学从全球竞争者中脱颖而出，凭借自己扎实的物理学科功底，在英国物理奥林匹克竞赛中，分别斩获了全球银奖（全球前15%）和全球铜奖（全球前25%）！
The British Physics Olympiad (BPhO) began in 1979 and officially selected the British national team members for the International Olympics in 1983.
BPhO attaches great importance to the flexible use of physics knowledge. There are all proof questions, students need to use their own physics knowledge to complete the challenge, which involves a wide range of knowledge. The challenge does not require students to complete all the questions, but encourages them to choose and complete the part they are good at according to their own interests and learning scope. The best players of British nationality will represent Great Britain in the national team.
Getting award in BPho is very useful as it can increase the competitiveness when applying for the famous universities in the world. Moreover, the questions in this competition are similar to the entrance exam of Oxford University, Cambridge University and the Imperial College of Science and Technology.
英国物理奥林匹克始于1979年，在1983年正式成为英国选拔国家代表队参加国际物理奥赛的考核标准之一。
BPhO非常注重学生对物理知识的灵活运用，其涉及的知识点非常广泛；该赛事不要求大家完成所有的试题，而是鼓励同学们根据自己兴趣和学习范围选择完成自己擅长的部分。英国国籍的优秀选手将入选奥林匹克英国国家代表队。
BPhO的成绩含金量极高，能为申请世界名校增加竞争优势；且考试题型与牛津大学、剑桥大学、帝国理工学院笔试、面试题相关度极大。

I am very honored to win the Silver Award in BPhO. To prepare this contest, I have often discussed the physics problems with my instructor in my spare time, since there were few real physics questions in this contest and the exam content was complicated, which required systematic theoretical and practical knowledge. I have solidified what I have learned before and achieved a lot of physics knowledge in high school under the guidance of the teacher. At the same time, the silver award also gave me the confidence and courage to continue my exploration in physics.

非常荣幸能获得BPhO的全球银奖。这个比赛的物理真题比较少，考试内容也比较复杂，需要系统的理论和实践知识，因此在准备这个比赛的过程中，我经常和我的指导老师利用课余时间探讨各种物理问题。在老师的指点下，我不仅巩固了已有的物理储备，还学习了大量的高中物理知识。这一次的获奖也给了我在物理学科继续探索的信心和勇气。

BPhO exposed us to a variety of high school physics content in G9, which greatly enhanced our physics literacy. I am very grateful to our tutor, Mr. Duan, who sacrificed his personal time and instructed us until late every day during the competition preparation period. BPhO is a new competition for G9 students. The biggest challenge for them to prepare for the contest is that there are few real questions, the testing scope of the exam is wide, and many knowledge is exceed the physical knowledge system of G9 students studied, which is challenging for students to quickly learn new content in a short time.
The enthusiasm of two students for learning and their attitude to tackle difficulties are worthy of recognition. They often discussed advanced physics knowledge with me in the evening self-study time, and asked questions in their spare time. Their spirit of inquiry were the important factor of their success in this competition.
BPhO对于九年级的学生是一项新的竞赛，学生备考的最大难点在于该竞赛真题少，考试范围广，诸多知识点已超过了初中生所学内容，对于短期内要速成高中物理知识的同学来说是极具挑战性的。
两位同学的学习热情和迎难而上的态度非常值得肯定，他们经常利用晚自习课时间跟我探讨高阶段物理知识，利用课余时间做大量练习并提问。其孜孜不倦的探究精神无疑是他们能在这次比赛中获得好成绩的重要因素。
